Lesson here - if you don't use your bread machine every day, and if you don't even bother to set the clock on your microwave, turn them off.

OTOH, considering how long it takes my computer to boot, I like standby mode a whole bunch. But if I'm going to be away all day, I try to remember to shut it down.
